According to a statement released by the military department on its official Telegram channel this Sunday, the strikes hit railway traffic control facilities at the Konotop station—a key hub for transporting weaponry and military equipment from western regions to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The ministry added that Russian forces struck a cargo ship 37 kilometers southwest of Odesa that was transporting military materiel for the Ukrainian army.
Since mid-July, Russian strikes on port facilities in southern Ukraine and on vessels involved in transporting military materiel for the Ukrainian army in the Black Sea have been occurring almost daily.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a “special military operation” in Ukraine. According to President Vladimir Putin, the objectives are to protect the population of the Donbas from “genocide by the Kyiv regime” and to address the national security risks posed by the eastward expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Ukrainian troops are receiving military support from this 32-nation alliance, which is led by the United States and includes the United Kingdom, Canada, and most European Union member states.
