The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that the airstrike occurred after midnight and targeted the vicinity of Qantara, in an area located between the districts of Nabatieh, Marjeyoun, and Bint Jbeil.
So far, no casualties or material damage have been reported as a result of the bombing.
In the Marjeyoun district, Israeli military vehicles moved east of Khiam, while intense machine gun fire was reported against neighborhoods and areas near that town.
The gunfire was also heard from several neighboring villages and towns in the eastern sector.
BIn Bint Jbeil, Israeli forces opened fire with machine guns on the town of Haddatha, according to Lebanese media reports.
This latest escalation comes after Israel’s Channel 12 reported, citing military sources, that the army is preparing for the possibility of several days of fighting in Lebanon, allegedly targeting Hezbollah infrastructure.
According to Lebanese authorities, the Israeli attacks that began on March 2 have left thousands dead and wounded and displaced more than a million people.
Israel also maintains a military presence in several areas of southern Lebanon, amid persistent tensions and calls from Beirut for the withdrawal of its forces.
