Ukraine and US sign memorandum on minerals

Kiev, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) Ukraine and the United States have signed a memorandum on a critical minerals agreement, Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister, Yuliia Svyrydenko, announced on Friday.

Svyrydenko wrote on her Facebook page, “Today, we have taken a step towards a joint Economic Partnership Agreement with the United States, as we signed a memorandum that testifies to the constructive joint work of our teams and the intention to conclude an agreement that will benefit our peoples.”

She also revealed that preparations are underway to establish an investment fund for Ukraine’s reconstruction. The future agreement, she explained, will facilitate significant capital inflows and modernize Ukrainian infrastructure.

Svyrydenko stressed, “The text of the agreement still needed to be finalized and signed. And then it will be ratified by parliaments. Thanks to our Ukrainian and American technical teams for their professional, constructive, and fast work.”

The minerals deal had previously been postponed on February 28 following a dispute between President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump during their meeting at the White House.
