El Fasher, the capital of the North Darfur state, controlled by the Army, suffers an intense siege by the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that try to take the city at any cost, amidst the offensive of the armed forces in the capital and other important cities.
The Army reported that the RSF indiscriminately shelled the city on Wednesday, in which 62 civilians, including 17 women and 15 children, were killed.
Political observers stated that the paramilitary forces are trying at all costs to take over Al Fasher to turn it into the headquarters of their announced parallel government, since they control the five states of Darfur.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following a power struggle between the Army chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and RSF leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
