The Palestinian Ministry of Women’s Affairs published a report documenting the mistreatment and humiliation to which women are subjected in the Israeli detention centers.
The Ministry warned that Israel’s prison authorities have intensified their repressive policies against Palestinian women through “torture, sexual violence, and enforced disappearance as systematic tools.”
The institution stated that since the current cycle of violence started on October 7, 2023, more than 510 women have been detained, 29 of whom remain locked up in harsh conditions that violate international laws and treaties.
Women’s Affairs Minister Mona al-Khalili affirmed that abuses against female prisoners are not simply individual violations, but rather a systematic policy that uses their bodies as a weapon of war and their dignity as a stage for collective punishment.
