Measures adopted to prevent the spread of yellow fever in Colombia

Bogota, Apr 17 (Prensa Latina) The Government of Colombia today ensures compliance with the measures to be followed by passenger transport companies before the entry of people to the department of Tolima (center-west) due to the outbreak of yellow fever.

As part of the regulations adopted, all companies operating routes to and from the aforementioned region were ordered to require drivers to make the respective stops at the sanitary control points established by the Ministry of Health, the Departmental or Municipal Health Secretariat. Necessary measures were also urged to ensure that visitors arriving in Kolyma, especially in the southern and eastern municipalities, have received the yellow fever vaccine at least 10 days before entering the department.

On the other hand, companies that provide river transport services for passengers and mixed, nautical sports and recreational activities must require that all persons entering the vessels must be immunized.

According to the Ministry of Transportation, the provisions are transitory, apply only to the territory of Tolima and are taken due to the emergency declared by the Ministry of Health, due to the outbreak of yellow fever.
