As part of the 63rd anniversary of the magazine founded by Nicolás Guillén (National Poet), the award was granted after evaluating 54 collections of poetry.
After analyzing the works, the jury, made up of Leyla Leyva, Ricardo Alberto Pérez, and Charo Guerra, awarded the “La Gaceta de Cuba” Prize to “Las actas de guerra” (The Acts of War) by Ismaray Pozo, for its austere language and revealing discourse on failure.
The “Prometheus” Creative Fellowship went to “Twelve Seconds Before the End of the World” by Brian Pablo González Lleonart, for its innovative perspective on love, absence, and pain.
The work “Anagnorisis (Testimony of Ruins)” by Milho Montenegro received a Special Mention for its unique voice and poetic intensity. The special recognition was presented by Dazra Novvak, president of the UNEAC Writers Association, who expressed her gratitude for the support of the Prometheus Art and Poetry Corporation and the prestigious Medellín Festival.
“La Gaceta de Cuba,” an art and literature publication of UNEAC, reaffirms its commitment to literary excellence and the promotion of national cultural thought.
