The volume tells the story of Fidel’s entire family landscape, childhood in Biran, student and youth stages. As Guillermo Cabrera wrote in the preface, the author delves into realism without losing the magic view and evokes an unusual family that gave birth to extraordinary children.
“I came to Chile 20 years ago and launched the book at the Writers Society, in the presence of Volodia Teitelboim,” the journalist, who has written several texts about Fidel Castro, recalled in a talk at the Alejandro Lipschutz Science Institute (ICAL) on Monday evening.
She stated that this book could provide many elements if someone wants to know how a universal prominent figure, such as Fidel, emerges.
She affirmed that, “All the time of the cedar trees is the time of the Cuban Revolution, which, like that resistant tree, we all know will endure.”
The meeting featured members of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, the Group of Professionals Graduated from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), and other social organizations, journalists, diplomatic personnel, and intellectuals.
Katiuska Blanco visited Concepcion, where she gave a keynote speech organized by the Jose Marti Corporation, also attended the International Book and Social Sciences Fair in the Santiago commune of Recoleta, and held meetings in Valparaiso and Viña del Mar.
