Pakistan confirms deportation of over 13,000 Afghans in one day

Islamabad, Apr 14 (Prensa Latina) More than 13,000 Afghans in irregular situation or holders of the Afghan Citizenship Card were deported yesterday from Pakistan, the press confirmed here today.

The total number of illegal Afghans living in Pakistan reaches 948,870, official sources told Radio Pakistan.

On the other hand, it was revealed that the police authorities of South Waziristan gave a deadline of five days for Afghan migrants in the province to register their information in the local police stations.

According to South Waziristan police officials, the move is aimed at identifying undocumented migrants and ensuring law and order in the area.

The registration drive is seen as part of broader efforts to manage the migrant population more effectively, they said.

Asif Bahadur, head of the South Waziristan Police, told Dawn News Agency that registering Afghan migrants is essential not only for identification purposes, but also to maintain regional security.

He urged migrants to go to police centers and present the necessary documents, warning that those who fail to comply will face legal consequences.

Earlier on Saturday from Kabul, the Taliban Commission to Address Migration Issues reported that Pakistan deported 6,543 Afghan nationals in a single day through Spin Boldak and Torkham border crossings.

The commission highlighted the significant increase in deportations after the deadline for voluntary return expired on March 31.
