The shipment, seized from a truck on the outskirts of Aizawl, was worth $6 million on the international drug market, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The operation revealed a novel method of concealing and transporting smuggled drugs, as 53 meticulously packaged, brick-sized packages were found hidden between the folds of the truck’s waterproof canvas, the government entity detailed in a statement.
The packages bore inscriptions such as 3030 Export Only and 999, along with diamond symbols, and contained orange-pink pills, which were tested and confirmed to contain methamphetamine, the release explained.
The truck, registered in Nagaland, came from Zokhawthar, a vulnerable border town near the India-Myanmar border, and was bound for Tripura. jrr/arm/ro/lrd
