Upon leaving the voting center, when asked by journalists about the progress of the electoral process, the president briefly answered: “Today Ecuador wins”.
Ecuadorians go to the polls this Sunday to elect the president between Noboa and Luisa Gonzalez, of the Citizen Revolution (CR).
Concerns about decisions such as the state of emergency decree, mark this key electoral process for the future of Ecuador, where the ruling party defends its permanence and the left, represented by the CR, seeks a change for the country after years of multiple crises.
The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador, Diana Atamaint, informed that in the first three hours of voting 10,22% of the more than 13,7 million citizens were summoned to vote.
In the first balance of the day, the head of the CNE indicated that more than 95% of the polling stations were installed normally this morning, although due to the rains 24 polling stations in 10 provinces were relocated, a last-minute measure that caused controversy.
