A statement released by the Italian Foreign Ministry underlines Tajani’s declarations, shortly before the beginning of his Asian tour which will last until April 14. Tajani said, “These nations play a key role in Italian foreign policy, in the light of excellent political, economic, and commercial relations”.
Both are identified among the extra-EU markets that will be developed as part of the trade action plan recently presented by the Italian government, to face the increase of tariffs to the European Union (EU) of up to 20.0 percent, announced last April 2 by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Strengthening ties with India and Japan is at the heart of the Government’s priorities to promote exports and the internationalization of our companies and to valorize the excellence of Italian craftsmanship, technological innovation, and heritage that distinguish Italy worldwide,” the minister said.
Tajani will arrive in New Delhi this Friday. His agenda includes a meeting with the president of that nation, Droupadi Murmu.
