According to the statement, Reda’s new duties will take effect upon his appointment.
Following the signing of the Pretoria Peace Agreement in November 2022 that ended the conflict between the Ethiopian Government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), Reda assumed leadership of the interim administration for two years.
He recently completed his term and was replaced by Taddese Worede at a handover ceremony held on Tuesday in the presence of Ahmed, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, and African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.
Also present were Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, heads of diplomatic missions of several countries, and international organizations based in Addis Ababa, among other high-level officials.
The new interim Tigray regional administration officially began its duties on April 10.
