The teachers’ mobilization, led by Joviel Acevedo, will march from Interbanco in Zone 10 of the capital to Congress, local media reported, without specifying other protest locations.
The secretary of the Sacatepéquez Education Workers Union, Rodrigo Hernández, told Emisoras Unidas that last Friday they held departmental assemblies to organize these meetings and discuss other issues of interest.
“We know that not everyone can get involved in the fight for public education in the country, but today we had a fairly large number of teachers,” he emphasized.
“Despite the work we’ve done and the efforts we’ve made to secure the signing of the Collective Agreement, we haven’t received a positive response from the Ministry of Education, which forces us to take action,” he said.
