Both this document and the Foreign Ministry’s condemnation statements are the latest moves by Beijing in view of the White House’s announcement on Tuesday of 104-percent tariffs on goods from China.
The text, divided into six sections, in addition to the prologue and conclusions, addresses key issues such as the mutually beneficial nature of the ties between the two countries.
It also highlights China’s compliance with the first-phase trade agreement signed with the United States, while criticizing Washington’s violations of its commitments in such an agreement.
The white paper states that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 46 years ago, bilateral trade between the two nations has grown significantly.
This exchange grew from less than 2.5 billion dollars in 1979 to almost 688.3 billion dollars in 2024.
However, the text adds that in the last few years, the rise of US unilateralism and protectionism has seriously disrupted normal economic cooperation between the two countries.
The white paper urges the United States to move in the direction indicated by the leaders of the two countries during their recent talks, promote an economic relationship based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
