Venezuelan President calls Trump’s economic war a mistake

Caracas, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro called the economic war against the world promoted by his US counterpart, Donald Trump, a mistake.

The president referred to an American expert who described this moment as “an economic nuclear war,” in which the United States is “inflicting great damage on itself.” “We say it’s a mistake to unleash this global economic war,” he emphasized, stating that this and the international sanctions “exacerbate the asymmetries in the global economy.”

Maduro denounced that “it is an immoral illegality to inflict damage on countries with economic sanctions” and mentioned the case of Cuba, which “has been subjected to systematic attacks on its economy for 65 years.” He also alluded to the 30,000 sanctions against Russia, as well as China, Democratic Korea, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. “Now it turns out that the coercive measures and economic warfare are against the entire planet, and we are demanding an end to the sanctions against the world and the people who seek independence,” he emphasized.

The president called for continued production in Venezuela of everything: food, medicine, technology, science, shoes, clothing, fuel, and for meeting the forecasts with good policies and unity, “to demonstrate that the economic model we are building is invulnerable.”

Maduro referred to the Seven Great Transformations (7T) 2025-2031 government plan as seven fronts of progress and struggle, and asserted, “We are simultaneously advancing on the ground, conversing, and raising the awareness that the people need to build and have the right to a future.” “We have this wonderful plan that is already in its final phase of updating after new consultations with the common men and women of the people, with the neighbors,” he said.

The president emphasized the importance of having a clear strategy for developing the economy, improving cities, enhancing the nation’s internal security, and improving the livelihoods of the people. This strategy also encompasses the Missions and Great Missions, and the establishment of a truly democratic state rooted in justice, freedom, and ecological development.
