Boonsong Thapchaiyuth, secretary of the Ministry, visited the Coordination and Assistance Center for employees affected by the earthquake, where he assured that both migrant and Thai workers will receive the same treatment.
Relatives of the deceased will be able to apply for compensation, which will be processed and paid within 15 days of the application.
He further clarified that for workers covered by the Social Security Scheme, the employer is responsible for compensation.
The Ministry will also cover the medical expenses of the injured through the Social Security Office and the compensation fund until their treatment is completed.
Workers who lost their jobs due to the earthquake will receive an unemployment benefit of US$216 per month for six months, covered by the Social Security Plan.
Rescue efforts continue at the site of the collapse of the 30-story building and to date, 77 people are still missing, while the death toll rose to 17 after two more bodies were found on Saturday.
