Russia expects the return of its diplomatic properties in the US

Moscow, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) Russia will seek to return its diplomatic property in the United States under President Donald Trump's administration.

This is one of the leading issues in the dialogue between Moscow and Washington, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday.

In an interview with Izvestia newspaper, Ryabkov stressed that, following the successful negotiations on normalization of bilateral relations in Istanbul, the delegations are preparing to meet again this week.

The exact dates have not yet been disclosed, however, the meeting has already been confirmed by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

In 2017, the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco, the Trade Representation in Washington (both state-owned), and its Office in New York (rented premises) were closed as part of sanctions on Russia.

A year later, Washington announced the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Seattle and the consul general’s residence.

The Russian Federation considered the seizure of diplomatic property as a blatantly hostile act and called on the United States to return immediately those facilities.
