A statement from the Presidency of the Republic, released on the Sky TG24 news website, states that, as part of the planned agenda, at 10:40 next Tuesday, Mattarella will welcome the British monarchs in the Courtyard of Honor of the Quirinal Palace.
After the reception, they will witness demonstrations by the National Aerobatic Teams of both nations, and then the presentation of the respective delegations will take place in the Bronzino Room. The meeting between the two heads of state will take place in the Studio alla Vetrata of the Palace.
That day, both leaders will also attend the Altar of the Fatherland, where the monarchs will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They will also visit the Colosseum Archaeological Park, which includes the Imperial Forums and the Palatine Hill.
On the morning of April 9, Mattarella and King Charles III will speak at the seminar “Clean Energy for Growth,” which will take place at the La Pelanda cultural center, located on the site of the ancient Testaccio slaughterhouse, in the Roman neighborhood of the same name.
In the afternoon, the monarch is scheduled to address a joint session of the Italian Parliament, which will take place at the Senate. He will also meet with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, where topics of bilateral interest, as well as other regional and international issues, will be discussed.
In the evening, the royal family will return to the Quirinal Palace for a state dinner hosted in their honor by President Mattarella, in the presence of the country’s highest officials and other prominent figures.
The visit will conclude on Thursday, April 10, in the city of Ravenna, in the northern region of Emilia-Romagna, where President Mattarella will be waiting to participate in the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Ravenna by Commonwealth troops and partisan forces in the Council Chamber of the City Hall.
In Ravenna, they will also visit the tomb of Dante Alighieri and the Lord Byron Museum in the Guiccioli Palace, where the famous British poet lived in 1819.
After this ceremony, the two heads of state will head to Forlì Airport, from where the British monarchs will depart for their return to London, the source added.
