“From January to date we have made an allocation of 30,3 million Bolivianos (more than four million dollars), an allocation that is made to smuggling,” he said during an interview to the state channel Bolivia Tv.
Velázquez informed that, in the last week, the Strategic Operational Commands of Fight Against Contraband (CEO-LCC) and the Patrols of the Supervision and Control Unit of his Vice Ministry (VLCC) affected these criminals in approximately 1,3 million Bolivianos (more than 185 thousand dollars).
He specified that these were seizures of different products, such as diesel (10 thousand liters), 250 bottles of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG); 200 bags of noodles, 200 quintals of bran; 150 boxes of oil, 80 boxes of butter; 50 of Sapolio and 100 bags of detergents, among others.
He commented that, of the 30,3 million bolivianos affected, more than 22 million bolivianos (more than three million dollars) correspond to operations against products illegally brought into the country, while more than seven million bolivianos (one million dollars) correspond to food and fuels illegally taken out of the national territory (smuggling in reverse).
