In a message published by Juventud Rebelde newspaper on Thursday, the UJC first secretary stated that young people are the protagonists of a social justice project that has had them present.
Estevez also highlighted the example of unity, discipline, creativity, and love for the homeland of the new generations, in whose hands lies the strength to continue making history. These are reasons to celebrate both anniversaries.
She informed that the main national activities for the date will be held in the western province of Pinar del Rio, recognizing “their tireless dedication, contagious enthusiasm, and exceptional results in every task undertaken.”
Regarding the celebration, the UJC leader highlighted the youth mobilizations in all provinces in support of food production and other essential tasks, meetings in historical sites, excursions, galas, exhibitions, and socio-cultural projects.
The Rebel Pioneers Organization emerged on April 4, 1961, and later assumed the name of Cuban Pioneers Union. During the 3rd UJC Congress held in 1977, it became the current OPJM.
The UJC was founded on April 4, 1962, at the proposal of Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Revolution, during the closing ceremony of the 1st Congress of the then Young Rebels Association.
