In a flagrant violation of international law and Syrian sovereignty, Israeli forces launched air strikes in five areas for 30 minutes, resulting in the almost total destruction of the Hama Military Airport, while dozens of civilians and military personnel were wounded, the Foreign Ministry denounced in a statement.
It described this unjustified escalation as a deliberate attempt to destabilize Syria and prolong the suffering of its people.
At a time when Syria is seeking to rebuild itself after 14 years of war, these repeated attacks are part of a clear Israeli attempt to prolong violence, undermine recovery efforts and perpetuate a policy of impunity, the statement said.
It urged the international community to take a firm stance and pressure Israel to end its aggression and to respect international law and fulfill its obligations under the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement.
The Ministry called on the United Nations and all relevant international bodies to take immediate action to stop this escalation and prevent further violations.
