Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiajun expounded on a relevant release from the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center and the National Engineering Laboratory for Computer Virus Prevention.
According to the document, during the sporting event in Harbin last February 7-14, cyber attacks were detected, mainly coming from the United States and other foreign actors.
The report also spoke of high suspicions of US government involvement behind these activities.
Guo expressed China’s concern about these actions and added that the document shows again that China is one of the main targets of cyber-attacks worldwide.
The spokesman urged Washington to take a responsible stance and reflect on its own actions.
“We hope the US will focus on correcting its mistakes instead of spreading slander and misinformation,” he said.
