During a telephone conversation, the two sides called for strengthening bilateral ties in various fields and rejecting foreign interference in internal affairs.
They also exchanged views on border security, cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and improving security coordination, to prevent any threat that could affect the two countries’ stability.
The Iraqi Prime Minister announced Baghdad’s support for the decisions of the Syrian people and an inclusive political process that leads to peaceful coexistence, community security and a secure and stable future for Syria and the region as a whole.
Al-Sudani also rejected the Israeli army’s violations of the Syrian territory, and stressed support for Syria’s unity and integrity. He called for mutual cooperation to confront the threat of Daesh terrorist group.
In turn, President Al-Shara pledged to develop bilateral relations and expressed respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and readiness not to interfere in its internal affairs, as well as the need for cooperation to help face common challenges and strengthen political relations between the two countries.
