Han made the call during a meeting to coordinate public security measures, ahead of next Friday’s ruling on Yoon’s impeachment or reinstatement, following his declaration of the short-lived martial law on Dec. 3, 2024.
Regardless of the decision, we must accept the outcome calmly and sensibly, in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, the acting president said at the meeting, attended by the ministers of science, justice, defense and security, as well as the police and fire chiefs, and the mayor of Seoul.
Han said that if everyone comes together again with the strength and wisdom of the people, the current crisis of turmoil and conflict can certainly be overcome.
He called on protesters to express their views peacefully, and reiterated that the government will not tolerate illegal or violent acts.
