Public sector enterprises (PSE) showed a 42.85 percent increase in their foreign sales during the period, reflecting the growing acceptance of Indian products in the global market and the Indian arms industry’s ability to integrate into the international supply chain, the Ministry of Defense reported.
The private sector and PSEs contributed $1.779 billion and nearly $98 million, respectively, to the increase in exports.
In a post on X, Department Head Rajnath Singh congratulated everyone involved for the feat and reaffirmed India’s goal of increasing foreign sales to $5.84 billion by 2029.
According to the Ministry of Defense, India has evolved from a military force largely dependent on imports to one increasingly focused on self-reliance and indigenous production. As part of this progress, a wide range of items—from ammunition and weapons to subsystems and systems, parts and components—have been exported to some 80 countries during the recently concluded fiscal year.
