A statement from the General Armaments Directorate of the Ministry of National Defense pointed out that one of the most recent examples of such a stance is the agreement between Tokyo and Washington to jointly produce the AIM-120 air-to-air missile.

This decision is highly dangerous considering the tense geopolitical and security environment in Northeast Asia, it noted.

The statement revealed that far from the pretended defensive character of this “joint disposition weapon”, its real purpose is to be used as a means of attack and aggression given its capacity to circumvent the anti-aircraft systems of the countries considered as enemies and to deliver a deep strike.

It denounced that the US has been encouraging militarism in Japan and both nations plan to establish a joint operation command as part of its designs to “keep at bay” nations it considers hostile and to stoke the atmosphere of war in Asia.

The General Armaments Directorate of the Ministry of National Defense warned that, in such a scenario, the DPRK will continue to strengthen its military deterrent system with the assurance that it will make any attempt of aggression pay dearly.
