Throughout Tuesday’s early hours heavy rainfall soaked Luanda, causing floods in several parts of the city and damaging 2,771 homes, as corroborated by local authorities.

The Provincial Civil Protection Commission reported the deaths, a 14 year-old boy and a 35 year-old man, while a 29 year-old woman is still missing after being swept away in Talatona municipality.

Novo Jornal reported that in addition to the more than 2,700 homes flooded, 28 houses were destroyed, three schools were affected and landslides occurred.

The municipalities of Viana, Kilamba Kiaxi, Sambizanga and Mulenvos are the most affected by the heavy rainfall.
