Administrative sources in the camp, located north of Al Fasher, told local media that artillery was used in the attack, which increased the number of casualties.
It was also reported that the site is home to nearly one million persons who were forced to flee their homes because of war, famine and ongoing human rights violations by the warring parties.
Darfur Governor Minni Minawi accused the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of deliberate artillery attacks and describing them as horrible crime.
Al Fasher has been in the hands of the army since the beginning of the war, and is constantly under siege by the RSF who are trying to take over the city.
Since mid-April 2023, this African nation has been engulfed in an internal war, after contradictions over power issues flared up between Army chief Abdel Fatah al-Burhan and the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
As a result of the conflict, more than 24,000 people have been killed, while more than 14 million Sudanese are out their homes, in what experts consider to be the world’s largest displacement crisis.
