In a statement released Tuesday, the Government of Sudan, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accused the paramilitary forces of destroying the National Museum, and blamed them for looting its historical treasures.
The National Museum of Sudan is in Khartoum, a city that was in the hands of the RSF from the beginning of the war until its recent capture by the Army, in the middle of a great offensive.
The place contained representative samples of a civilization seven thousand years old, the Foreign Ministry, which also denounced the looting of other places which kept pieces of great historical value such as the Beit al Khalifa Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, the Republican Palace Museum, the Museum of the Armed Forces and the Museum of Natural History of the University of Khartoum said.
The Sudanese government assured it will work with all specialized international organizations, as well as with Interpol, to recover the looted samples and prosecute those responsible for the theft of the country’s historical treasures.
