This year’s festival will also dedicate a space to the 150th anniversary of the first crossing of the Trocha de Júcaro a Morón, a fortified military line built between 1869 and 1872 in Cuba to prevent the passage of insurgent forces to the western part of the island during the Ten Years’ War (1868-1878).
This crossing had an extension of 68 kilometers, and ran between the south and north of the island, from Júcaro to Morón, and every year the event celebrates the fact of the 19th century in Cuba as part of the history of our country.
“Piña Colada” has jumped from having music as the main element to other expressions of popular culture, among them, theater, dance, Rodriguez said.
