More Russian rescuers arrive in Myanmar after quake

Moscow, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The Emergencies Ministry informed on Tuesday that with the arrival of two more Il-76 aircraft to Myanmar, after the March 28 earthquake, the number of Russian rescuers deployed in that Asian country has reached 264.

The emergency management institution reported that the two aircraft departed from Moscow and arrived in the quake zone, where the specialists immediately joined the relief brigades sent from the first moment.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck in Myanmar on Friday, March 28, leaving more than 2,000 dead, some 3,900 injured, and almost 270 missing.

Myanmar’s military chief Min Aung Hlaing declared a week of national mourning for the quake’s victims, from March 31 to April 6 .

Including Thailand, the earthquake was also felt in five neighboring countries where it recorded more than 20 fatalities.
