The campaign, in coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), will continue until April 12 with a variety of media and awareness-raising activities.
ICRC Spokesperson for the Middle East in Syria, Suhair Zakkout, explained that the initiative aims to highlight the growing threats posed by landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices, particularly to displaced returnees and humanitarian workers.
Zakkout added that the campaign includes radio messages, content on social media, podcasts, and an official statement from the head of the ICRC delegation in Syria.
The ICRC-SARC teams will also organize awareness sessions on the ground for the groups most vulnerable to these risks.
The official affirmed that more than a decade of conflict has left Syria contaminated with dangerous war remnants that threaten the lives of millions of civilians, especially children, who are among the most affected groups.
