Moinelo pitched seven innings, allowing just one run on a Yuki Nomura home run, as his Softbank Hawks defeated the Nippon Ham Fighters 5-1 in front of more than 33,000 fans.
During that outing, the pitcher from the western province of Pinar del Río and a member of the Cuban national team struck out six batters, walked one, hit another, and allowed only two hits.
It was the first win for the Falcons after losing their first three games, and they now sit in fifth place in the Pacific League, dominated by the undefeated Lotte Mariners (3-0). For the losers, fellow Cuban Ariel Martinez struck out three times in three at-bats and is now hitting .167 this season.
