In a meeting with all those elected by popular vote, the political leader explained the selection process and emphasized that consultations were held with organized communities and social movements.
He explained that they used the methodology established and approved at the Fifth Congress of the PSUV, and the selection resulted from consultations and statistical comparisons.
“We can say that the Electoral Commission of the Party of the Revolution has a consensus-based proposal,” he emphasized. He also praised the great commitment made by all the members of the Socialist Party and the Great Patriotic Pole who were candidates for the May 25 elections, in which the state Legislative Councils will also be elected.
Cabello stated that elected positions and those of the Revolution “represent sacrifice, dedication, and absolute selflessness” and reaffirmed that the Bolivarian Revolution “long ago ceased to hold positions that implied privileges.”
He emphasized that the candidates, including five women, were chosen through the democratic, participatory, and leading role of all our members, “faithful to our party values and principles of patriotism, independence, anti-imperialism, Bolivarianism, and Chavismo.”
In these May 25 elections, the governor of Guayana Esequiba, for whom Neil Villamizar was nominated, will be elected for the first time, the politician announced, after mentioning each of the candidates.
Maduro emphasized that the revolutionary forces “have reached a level of political and programmatic maturity,” in which programs are guides for true action with goals to achieve.
“It’s a major challenge; we’re going to raise the bar,” the president urged.
The head of state called for the eradication of any disagreements among comrades, quarrels, jealousies, aspirations, or political problems, and urged them “from today on, to put that aside.”
He emphasized there is now a single force surrounding the gubernatorial candidates, “one force, one team, unity and more unity, no tripping, no nudges,” he demanded.
The president applauded the brilliant work of all the candidates and praised their political, personal, human, ethical, and capacity to be the best governors we’ve ever seen. Unite with the people and behave uprightly, and let time work wonders,” he added.
