Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiankun criticized Washington for using the excuse of the so-called “Chinese threat” to fuel ideological confrontations and divisions, while inciting some countries to act as “artillery cannons” to maintain its global hegemony.
Guo noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World War II.
In this context, the spokesperson urged Japan to learn from history and proceed in the military and security fields.
He also stressed that the Taiwan issue is purely China’s internal affair, the resolution of which rests solely with the Chinese people without external interference.
Guo urged Tokyo to abide by the principles set out in the four China-Japan political documents, to act prudently on Taiwan-related issues, and avoid sending the wrong signals to separatist forces linked to “Taiwan independence.”
