According to a press release from the Palacio de La Moneda, Boric will be accompanied by a large delegation of ministers, parliamentarians, businessmen and representatives of other sectors, and the agenda will focus on economic and political issues.
The visit marks the return of a Chilean president to India after 16 years, following the trip made by Michelle Bachelet in 2009.
Boric is scheduled to meet on April 1 in New Delhi with the Prime Minister, Narenda Modi, and President Draupadi Murmu, and will also lead a business meeting to strengthen trade relations and attract investment to his country.
The second stop will be Mumbai, where -among other activities- he will take part at a round table with the participation of executives of the agri-food industry of both countries.
Finally, he will travel to Bangalore with a special emphasis on innovation and technology and the possibility of encouraging investment in Chile in this area.
Last March 24, during a forum of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Chilean head of state rejected the trade war promoted by the US president, Donald Trump.
