Angolan and Cuban Public Prosecutors sign cooperation programme

Luanda, 30 March (Prensa Latina) The Angolan Public Prosecutor's Office (PGR) and the Cuban Public Prosecutor's Office have signed a cooperation programme for the technical and professional development of magistrates in 2025-2027, Jornal de Angola reported today.

The agreement was signed on Saturday in Havana by the Angolan Attorney General, Hélder Pitta Gróz, and his Cuban counterpart, Yamila Peña, according to a PGR press release.

The two institutions have had a framework agreement since June 2013, which focuses on strengthening exchange relations for the technical and professional development of magistrates and other professionals in various areas, including crime prevention and the fight against crime.

The Angolan prosecutor, who was in the Cuban capital to attend the 16th International Criminal Law Conference and the 4th Event on Legality, Law and Society, invited Attorney General Peña to participate in the Conference on Cybercrime, which will be held in Angola this year with the participation of other countries.

Speaking at the legal event in Havana, Pitta Gróz addressed issues such as the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, cryptocurrency mining and cyber-attacks on financial systems.

He also acknowledged the importance of international cooperation to meet the challenges posed by globalised crime, some of the issues to be addressed at the Angolan conference. mh/rc/kmg
