In a statement posted on its website, the Embassy reproduced the State Department’s “Level 4” travel warning and asked US citizens to decline to travel to the Middle Eastern country for the religious holiday of Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim fasting month.
We warn our citizens not to travel to Syria because of the risks of terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, hostage-taking, armed conflict and unjust detentions, the note said.
The text refers that the attacks could target embassies, international organizations and state institutions in Damascus, and the methods of attack could include individual attackers, gunmen or the use of explosive devices.
The Embassy urged nationals in need of emergency assistance to contact the US Interests Section at the Czech Republic’s diplomatic legation in the capital.
