A cold front driven by an atmospheric river advances this Saturday from the Aysén region and is expected to reach Coquimbo, in the so-called Norte Chico.
There will be winds with gusts of over 80 kilometers per hour, which could reach 90 in Patagonia, where rainfall will be stronger, so the DMC issued several preventive alerts due to the intensity of the event.
On Sunday, the weather phenomenon will reach the center of the country, including the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, where light to moderate rains are expected.
In addition, the Navy’s Meteorological Service issued a special warning for storm surges from the Golfo de Penas, in Aysén, to Arica.
The strong swell will begin today in the south and will reach the north next Monday, with greater intensity at high tide.
The Chilean Meteorological Office also reported possible thunderstorms on the coast, in the Coastal Range and in the valleys of La Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos.
