The information was taken from a message on X by US journalist Nick Sortor, to which Bukele responded by writing on the same social network: “I will bring several cans of Diet Coke”, in reference to the US president’s favorite drink.
In announcing the meeting between the leaders, without specifying a date, Sortor highlighted the good relations existing between the two countries, which did not occur during the administration of Democratic President Joe Biden.
Trump describes the Salvadoran president as an important ally, to the extent that he praised his leadership and example, according to the pro-government newspaper.
El Mundo reported that the Salvadoran president would be the first in the western hemisphere to make a formal visit to the White House.
Bukele and Trump met personally for 35 minutes in the United States when both were in their first presidential term, in September 2019.
