After negotiating with leaders of European countries in Paris, the president told reporters that it will be a military contingent to protect Ukraine at sea, in the sky, and on the ground, which would be deployed in “strategic places.”
Additionally, the politician admitted that options for sending Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) or UN missions to Ukraine have been proposed.
Zelensky argued, “We do not want only the OSCE presence. This is not a guarantee of security; they have their duties, but have no corresponding mandate as a military contingent.”
Earlier, British and French authorities said they were considering creating a peacekeeping corps of up to 30,000 troops, supposedly to ensure the fulfillment of a peace agreement in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on March 12 that the presence in Ukraine of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) troops under any flag and in any capacity would be a threat to Russia.
