As the Kremlin press service reported in the head of State’s opinion, that is an international practice and cited the precedents of external governance under UN auspices in Timor Leste, New Guinea, and parts of former Yugoslavia.
The head of State said, “There is such a practice and we could discuss the possibility of introducing a temporary administration in Ukraine under the UN auspices, along with the United States, European countries, and our partners and friends.”
Putin explained that such a measure would enable to hold democratic elections there, bring to power a capable government enjoying the confidence of the people, start negotiations with them on a peace treaty, and sign legitimate documents that would be acknowledged around the world, worthy of trust and credibility.
