She emphasized that Darchev should focus on restoring normal embassy functions to improve interaction and address accumulated problems stemming from long-standing tension and mistrust.

Darchev, a leading Russian academic specializing in American affairs, arrived in the US on Wednesday and considers that a “window of opportunity” currently exists for Russia-US relations.
