Responding to press inquiries, Jaiswal asserted that the USCIRF’s consistent distortion of isolated incidents and attempts to discredit India’s multicultural society reveal a deliberate agenda, not genuine concern for religious freedom. He stated that attempts to undermine India’s standing as a model of democracy and tolerance are futile.
Jaiswal further suggested that the USCIRF itself should be designated an entity of concern. He added that while India is home to 1.4 billion people of all faiths, he doesn’t expect the USCIRF to acknowledge India’s pluralistic reality or the harmonious coexistence of its diverse communities.
