Bénédict Kabirou is the second Kenyan military officer to lose his life in the urban battle to exterminate the armed gangs.
The CPT – reported Le Nouvelliste – praised the courage and commitment of the fallen officer and promised that this crime will not go unpunished.
Kabirou died in what was considered a dark day for the Haitian National Police (PNH) and foreign troops, after losing three other armored vehicles.
The equipment was set on fire by the gangs that are now keeping the law enforcement authorities and foreign troops in check.
Members of the Gran Grif armed gang operating in the locality of Petite Rivière de l’Artibonite prepared a trap by opening a ditch and covering it, so that a PNH vehicle could not continue its advance.
Immediately, a rescue team composed of two more armored vehicles was sent, a second vehicle also got stuck, and the third one suffered a mechanical failure, the newspaper commented.
Such misfortune was accompanied by an ambush, and to top it off, the gang members burned the three patrols.
