The Theater Hall of the Cuban Art Building will be the stage this March 27 at 7:00 p.m. local time for the tribute dedicated to the theater director, which includes the interpretation of scenes from emblematic works by the author, which came to have an impact among the most significant of the last decades in Cuba.
It also includes the presentation of the documentary “Eugenio Hernandez Espinosa and his black theater”, by Uruguayan professor and documentary filmmaker Juanamaria Cordones-Cook.
The theatrical work of master Eugenio Hernandez Espinosa mixes the mythical and the popular, with music and dramatic action, breaking stereotypes and superficial models about Cuban identity.
His iconic creations are distinguished by his explorations of popular culture and Afro-Cuban traditions.
