The thirty-third meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on Border Issues was held on Tuesday in Beijing in a positive and constructive atmosphere, the Indian Foreign Ministry reported in a statement, emphasizing that peace and tranquility on the border are essential for the harmonious development of bilateral relations.
Both sides explored various measures and proposals to implement the decisions taken during the meeting of the Special Representatives on the India-China border issue, held in the Chinese capital in December 2024.
Representatives from both countries agreed to maintain and strengthen relevant diplomatic and military mechanisms to promote effective border management. They also exchanged views on the early resumption of cross-border cooperation and exchanges, including those related to rivers and the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage.
The representatives agreed to work together to make substantial preparations for the next meeting of the Special Representatives, to be held in India later this year.
During his stay in China, the head of the Indian delegation, Gaurangalal Das, Joint Secretary for East Asia, paid a courtesy call on Assistant Minister of External Affairs Hong Lei.
