On March 24th, Szijjártó announced that he plans to meet with members of the Russian government this week to discuss the progress of negotiations between Russia and the United States to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
The Hungarian Parliament recently adopted a resolution against the country’s participation in joint European Union (EU) loans under the ReArm EU program for the rearmament of Europe, including the production of weapons for Ukraine.
The resolution, which calls on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to adopt such a position before the European Union, received 138 votes in favor, 29 against, and one abstention.
According to the document, Hungary agrees with the need to strengthen European defense capabilities and considers achieving this goal a national responsibility, although the MPs oppose accepting common EU loans as part of the European rearmament plan proposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
