According to him, the Danish Armed Forces need all the combat power the country can mobilize, so they are willing to recruit all members of society.

By turning to women, we expand our ability to attract the most capable and motivated young Danes, regardless of their gender, Hildgaard said, quoted by the local daily Politiken.

He noted that diversity in the troops helps solve problems and creates a stronger defense.

The Danish Defense Ministry press release also noted that the initial plan was to start recruiting women for military service in early 2027, but the first such recruiting groups will begin work next year.
